John Lindau - who was that?
In our hotel we have a room called Länsman.
In Staffanstorp it was sometimes hectic in the prison.
Not because the Staffanstorps residents were known troublemakers but because the train station brought with it a lot of free riders and drunks who were dropped off in the village to be taken to the finca which was then located at Järnvägsgatan 23.
Sometimes a dozen or so wobbly people could arrive walking in a row like a classic Skåne goose train to be taken care of by John Lindau, Staffanstorps perhaps the most famous policeman of all time, who was given the task of keeping an eye on the trains to take care of troublemakers.
The worst was the evening train from Bökeberg on Whitsun weekend when many partygoers came to visit.
Lindau himself liked to have fun at Gästis.
And the word Sheriff was formerly the name for a rural police chief. In the picture we see Sheriff Bergstrand – a picture from 1932.
