Alejandra Mårtensson, who you have probably met at Gästis at some point, will open the Lilla Trädgårdscaféet in Uppåkra on June 15th, under the direction of Gästis.
Alejandra comes from Nicaragua. Her father is Swedish and her mother is from Nicaragua. Her upbringing is therefore characterized by two cultures.
Mamma Maria Christina runs a coffee plantation in the mountains of the northern parts of Nicaragua.
It is located at 914 m.a.s.l. and is called Las Colinas. A very beautiful area with misty mornings, warm days and cool afternoons.
Mother has had the plantation, which is approx. 2.8 ha, since the end of the 80s. (She also grows citrus fruits, beans, corn and herbs.)
When Alejandra was little, she worked side by side with her mother picking coffee beans and has been involved in the entire process from picking to roasting. Special memories are also the pleasant lunches out on the plantation together with all the pickers.
The work on the plantation is carried out so that all beans are picked by hand, placed in baskets and then transported in sacks to a recipient. The husks are removed, the beans are washed and placed on a cement floor where they are dried by the sun and wind. By hand, you select which beans are golden beans and must pass on to buyers who condition a good price and other beans that are also sold but at a lower price. The buyers then resell the beans to the roasters.
An exciting background and very funny that Alejandra is now connecting her roots and her knowledge of coffee in the operation of Lilla Trädgårdscaféet.
In addition, she also has a certain connection to archeology through her grandfather, Anders Mårtensson, who was previously head of Culture in Lund.
Go out and see her, dude! Don't miss the premiere on 15/6!
