Now we have busy days in the old Innkeeper's Mansion!
The goose only had time to set the table, so it was time to start decorating for Christmas on Monday.
Lots of flowers, softwood, boxwood wreaths, moss and other plants have been brought in by my sister-in-law, Anita, who has a past as a florist. Cardboard boxes have been brought up from the basement, filled to the brim with Advent candlesticks, Santas, Christmas tree balls and many other exciting things!
As usual, the whole family is involved. Our son Wictor has been out in Trullstorp's nygård and cut 4 beautiful firs that decorate both the patio, entrance side and the hall.
It is a short time to decorate such a large house in just four days. We can indeed start early in the morning but must take a break between 11:30-14:30 when lunch is served.
Thursday and Friday is the evening opening, so then you have to take a break.
The decorations for the Christmas table and silk ribbons have to be ironed, the candlesticks have to be started again after the summer break, and there our son Fredrik had to step in and make a contribution.
Jonas, who works at one of our other companies and is a trained carpenter, was suddenly tasked with making schnapps trays, which are now one of the fun news of the year, to test any of our homemade schnapps.
At the same time, the kitchen works in the sweat of its brow to get all the components ready for the Christmas table; hunting and smoking game, making pâtés, rolling meatballs and putting in all the different types of herring, while Jimmy made several home-spiced Santa schnapps and also supplemented the other range of home-made spices. Already now, next year's Santa schnapps is on the bar counter...
But, when you stand there at the Christmas dinner premiere and see the whole house glittering and filled with guests and seductive smells from the kitchen, it just feels wonderful even though you finished the decorations half an hour before and only had time to go home and turn around in the shower and change your appearance.
Because now Christmas has come to our dear Gästgivaregård and Christmas lasts, if not until Easter, then until December 22nd.
But if you want to come to Gästis and visit us and prefer to eat à la carte, you are just as welcome because it is served alongside.
